Behind the Blog - Carissa of Blonde & Something

When & why did you start blogging?
I started my blog back in August. About two or three years ago, I started following Blair Eadie from Atlantic-Pacific, Julie from Sincerely Jules, Rachel Parcell from Pink Peonies and fell in love with the idea of sharing my style with others. It was through other bloggers that I found the inspiration to start one of my own.

What’s the greatest thing that’s come out of blogging?
The people. I love connecting with other bloggers!

When you’re not blogging, what can you be found doing?
If I am not blogging, I am most likely working one of my two jobs unfortunately. However when I actually have free time… I enjoy being a complete homebody, which involves catching up on television shows, reading magazines like Lucky or Instyle, painting my nails and sipping a glass of Pinot Grigio. However they’re times where I enjoy being spontaneous/adventurous and take the train to Chicago for the day to wander around the city.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what would be the one thing you would take along with you?
Honestly….. My iPhone! (Hope that island has cell service or Wi-Fi)

What’s the one piece of advice you would share with bloggers just starting out?
Be true to who you are and write about things you are passionate about. Blogging books have also helped me along the way, such as Blog Inc. by Joy Deangdeelert Cho.

What’s your can’t live without piece in your closet?
That’s a very tough question, currently it’s a pair of boyfriend denim. However tomorrow it could be simple jewelry or wedge sneakers.

On a Friday night, what can you be found doing?
Dinner and drinks with some of my gals.

How do you balance blogging with a work/social life?
It’s definitely a struggle but the best time for me to blog is late at night. I pull a late night almost every night getting posts ready for either the next day (because I enjoy procrastinating) or upcoming weeks (rare that I am an overachiever but it happens once in a blue moon). Weekends are definitely good as well when I am not extremely busy.

What’s your favorite quote?
“A girl should be two things: who and what she wants.” –Coco Chanel

What’s your dream job?
I would really like to work for a place such as J. Crew as a stylist or merchandiser.

Guilty Pleasures?
Catchy tunes, Cupcakes and Coffee.

What’s your favorite “little thing” in life?

Those “I love my life” moments and making people smile.
